Lillian Childs Francis Obituary

Lillian Childs Francis, our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and a friend accepted God's call and entered into her heavenly home on May 23, 2025, at her residence at the Otterbein Senior Living Community.

Born April 7, 1930, in Middletown, Ohio to the late Reverend Ephraim & Lizzie B. Childs the eleventh child of twelve.

Early on Lillian attended Poasttown School in Madison Township where she developed a desire for reading. She went on to attend Middletown High School and is a graduate of 1948. During her high school years she was a part of the Glee Club, Junior Literary Club, and Y Teens. She had quite the ear for music.

At an early age she received Christ and became a member of Second Baptist Church. She was very active in the Youth Choir and Usher Ministry. She was also the Recording Secretary for Sunday School. She learned to play the piano by ear and would love to play at Second Baptist Church occasionally as well as sing.

Later in life Lillian met the love of her life the late Reverend Douglas Francis and to that union came three beautiful daughters. Twins in 1961 Marchelle and Rochelle and in 1963 Darlene. Her love for her children was a compassionate natural nurture. She instilled in them to love the Lord God with all thine heart. She taught them to act like ladies and respect themselves with dignity and class. She showed them how to be women, guiding them through life's biggest triumphs and toughest battles. She will be remembered for the love and dedication she showered on them and for being the "BEST MOM" In the world.

Lillian was employed at Wright Patterson Air force Base, until her retirement.

She later worshiped with the Tried Stone Baptist Church. This was ideally convenient because she could walk right across the street to praise God, which was her true desire.

She had the heart of giving and showered her grandchildren with love. She would walk them to the bus stop when they were younger and be there to receive them when school was over. She made sure no one bothered her babies. She would often volunteer at Taft Elementary School to be near her grandchildren. She was very passionate about her family, and the biggest supporter and encourager.

In her free time she would love to shop around town at the local dollar stores, even if it was for only one thing. Most times she would travel by the city bus, just because she wanted to get out and see the town. She loved to assemble puzzles and to read the Bible and newspaper. She also dressed with purpose, matching in bright colors from head to toe. As Lillian embraced her senior years she still enjoyed reading and sharing in activities within her living community and playing the piano. She would often recite scriptures of the Bible. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalms 23.

She was known for her love of fried chicken, chocolate cakes and Hawaiian Fruit Punch.
