Ms. Linda Mae Taylor was born on March 17, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Loretta (Stripling) Washington and Lindsey Washington. She departed this life and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2025.
Linda was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System and graduated from Central High School. She later pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her medical nursing license. Throughout her career, she faithfully served at General Hospital, Alaska Nursing Facility and in various private duty nursing assignments. Her dedication and compassion touched countless lives.
At a young age, Linda was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church. Along her spiritual journey, she became a devoted member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the Nurses’ Guild (Nurses Ministry) for many years. She also found joy in community service, participating in programs such as Cincinnati Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Grandparents Program. She was also awarded by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission for her contribution to South Cumminsville. Linda was a Junior Eastern Star, a cheer-leading coach for Western AA and volunteered with Women Helping Women. Linda loved taking care of people and welcomed everyone with open arms. She enjoyed roller skating, bingo, gardening and spending time with friends in the Red Hatters Club. Her favorite color was green and she delighted in simple pleasures such as banana pudding, sweet potato pie, watching Wheel of Fortune and the com-panionship of her beloved dogs.
Linda had a beautiful soul — smart, witty, kind and warm-hearted. She never turned any-one away, regardless of their circumstances. Incredibly strong and talented, she had the gift of making something out of nothing. Quick on her feet and gifted with her hands, Linda’s presence was simply amazing and left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Loretta (Stripling) Washington and Lindsey Washington; grandson, DeShawn Phillips; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Phillips; and her siblings, Calvin Washington, Robert Holloway, Joyce Ellis and Rosetta W. Thomas.
She leaves to cherish her memory: beloved children, John Phillips, Johnna McMillan (Ricky), Johnathan Phillips (Kathleen), Linda Phillips and Crystal Phillips; her dear siblings, Freddy Mae Holloway, Frederick Holloway and Tondlaria Coulter; and her legacy also lives on through a host of grandchildren, great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, extended family, church family and countless cherished friends
