Lorraine "Maxine" Stevenson

Ms. Lorraine Maxine Stevenson, 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, peacefully entered eternal rest on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lorraine “Maxine” was born on July 8, 1948, in Stanford, Kentucky, to Juanita Givens and Frank Bright. She was lovingly raised by her devoted grandmother, Eva Chenault, whose guidance, love, and strong values helped shape the remarkable woman Lorraine “Maxine” would become. She lived a life defined by unwavering faith, dedicated service, genuine compassion, and a deep love for God, her family, and her community.

For 30 years, Maxine (as she was commonly known as) faithfully served as Secretary for the Village of Lincoln Heights, where she was admired for her professionalism, integrity, kindness, and commitment to public service. She also worked for many years at Princeton Night School. In addition, she faithfully served as receptionist for Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 12 years, devoting herself to the administrative work of the church with excellence and grace.

Lorraine “Maxine” accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 15 and was baptized at Second Christian Church. In January 1974, she united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she continued to grow in her faith. In January 1985, she was baptized as a Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Henry Wise Jones. Through-out her years at Mt. Zion, Lorraine “Maxine” faithfully served on the Usher Board, the Pastor’s Support Ministry, and numerous committees that helped organize special church events. Her faithful dedication and ser-vice were recognized when she was honored as Woman of the Year.

Lorraine “Maxine” treasured the many relationships she cultivated throughout her life. She shared a special sisterly bond with her sister-cousins, Jackie Bell, Rose

Logan and Andrea Baughman. She also cherished lifelong friendships with Rose Riley, Wanda Gray, Carol Jenkins, Margaret Thompson, Dolores Lindsey, Alice Jones, Brenda Baker, Debra Burton, and many other dear friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, encouragement, and love.

She was a devoted and loving godmother to Vashti, Noemi, Akilah, Uhura, Hope, Lara Bacon and Jamal Willis, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

Lorraine “Maxine” was preceded in death by her beloved son, Thaddeus Scott Stevenson; her loving grandmother, Eva Chenault; her mother, Juanita Helm Givens; her father, Frank Bright; her stepfather, Flem Givens; and her beloved sister-cousin, Andrea Baughman.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter, Tonya (Stacey) Stevenson Jones; her beloved granddaughters, Ma’Shaya (James “Jay”) Randall and Ma’Keya (Arron) Thompson, Ma’Niya Linkous and Ma’Layla Linkous; and a cherished added member of the family, Crystal Linkous. She also leaves eight adored great-grandchildren, Xy’yonesty, Za’Myiah and Zy’King Randall, Ny’eem Linkous, Ny’Lah, Ny’Lijah, Ny’Ajai Thompson and Jamari Feltha.

She is also survived by her special “nephew,” Charles Givens II; along with a host of cousins, extended family members, godchildren, her cherished church family and countless friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Lorraine “Maxine” will always be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, generous heart, servant’s attitude, wisdom, and radiant smile. Her legacy of faith, service, friendship, and unconditional love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. Though she is no longer with us in body, the love she shared, the lives she touched, and the example she set will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
