Lottie Virginia Reid was born on March 1, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the union of Dan and Geneva Jenkins. She gained her heavenly home on April 21, 2025.
Lottie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Reid; parents, Dan and Geneva Jenkins; sister, Mary McKinney, brothers; Nelson, Dan and Reginald Jenkins; brother-in-law, Jesse McKenney Sr.
Lottie married Albert Davenport in November of 1970. One daughter was born to this union. She later married Jospeh A. Reid on June 29, 1985.
Lottie accepted Christ and was baptized by Reverend John Stevens at The Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church when she was eight years old. She was an active member until the early 1970’s when she joined First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights. She started the Rose Buds, a children’s choir, in the late 1970’s where she would not only teach/direct songs but teach bible lessons and plan educational field trips. She was the Director of the Children’s Church, started (and implemented) the Back-to-School Jamboree, taught Sunday School and Vacation bible school, sang in the Mass Choir, volunteered as the Church Secretary, served on the trustee board, the by-law and kitchen committees.
Lottie graduated from Hughes High School in 1962. She attended Tuskegee University and later the University of Cincinnati where she obtained her bachelor’s degree. She began working at C, G & E in 1965 where she was active in various clubs and organizations. Facilitating and implementing Diversity programs were a priority for her. After 35 years of service and managing offices in Cincinnati and Indiana, she retired in 2000 from her position as an Information Technology manager from Duke Energy (formerly C, G & E and Cinergy).
Lottie loved serving the Lord, her church, being a grandmother, children, helping people and shopping. She was always willing to help in whatever way that she could. She will surely be missed.
Lottie is survived by her loving daughter, Ingrid Davenport; grandson, Noah Johnson; grand-dog, Jack; added daughter, Wanda Phillips; sister, Shirley Ligon; sister-friends, Shelby Givens-Blackmon, Mary Phillips, Carole Dillon and Demetria Washington; godson, Roosevelt Donalson and a host of other relatives and friends, who will cherish her memory.
