With heavy hearts and profound love, we honor the life of Louis John Reuben Harrison, Jr., affectionately known as “Uncle Bruh.” Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in the West End, Louis was the beloved son of the late Louis John Reuben Harrison, Sr., and the late Lizzie Rene “Irene” (née Glover) Harrison.
Louis, a man of deep kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering loyalty, lived a life centered on family, community, and service. Never married and without children of his own, he poured his love, time, and devotion into his sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who became family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest sister, Barbara Harrison. He is survived by his loving sister, Wilma Morrow, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished family friends.
Despite limited formal schooling — he began working after completing the seventh grade — Louis embarked on a lifetime of labor, dedication, and quiet dignity. He retired from The University of Cincinnati Hospital (formerly General Hospital), where his reliability, character, and friendly presence left a lasting impression on all who worked with him.
Louis was beloved for many things, but especially for his custom desserts, with his legendary chess pie taking center stage at every family gathering. He loved to bring joy through simple pleasures: a kind word, a helping hand, a generous spirit. He was the man who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need.
In his passing, we pause and reflect on the loving legacy he leaves behind: a foundation of generosity, warmth, and servanthood. May the threads of his life continue to inspire us to lean into kindness, loyalty, and love.
