On June 28, 1932, Luther Hister, Sr. was born to the late Henry Hister and Sarah Robinson of Crawfordsville, Arkansas, where he was the only child. Luther departed this life on May 21, 2019, peacefully at home.
Luther accepted Christ at an early age. He attended McNeil High School in Arkansas, where he met the love of his life, Betty J. Coburn and they later married on December 21, 1952. He served in the Korean War from 1950-1953 and moved to Lincoln Heights, Ohio in 1955.
Luther joined Lincoln Heights Baptist and later joined the Male Chorus. He was a truck driver for Reading Rock and then drove for Frank Messer from where he retired. Luther later started working for St. Monica Rec Center and retired from there. He was known to some as Cool Hand Luke or Grey Fox.
In departing this life, Luther leaves to mourn: one son, Timothy Hister; three daughters, Phyllis Hister, Renee Hister-Davis and Rena Hister-Davis (Dewayne); 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
One son and his beloved wife of what would have been 67 years of marriage, preceded him in death, Luther Hister, Jr. and Betty Hister.
