Mackie L. Bess

Mackie Lee Bess (McFadden) was born on July 2, 1944 to Mack and Viola McFadden in More County, Alabama. The family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1948.

At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ ads her Lord and Savior. She became a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the Choir, Usher Board, and working with the children on Christmas and Easter Programs.

After graduation from Withrow High School, she became a nurse for 35 years and retired from VAMC after 33 years of service.

She was married to William N. Bess on October 9, 1965 and to that union, a joyful blessing if a daughter, Nicole,

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Viola McFadden: nephew, Carl Moorman: grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by: her only daughter, Nicole (Melvyn) Heard and granddaughters, Kennedi and Reagan Heard, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Olivia Smith, niece, Erica Jones and grand nephew, Brandon Jones, all of Atlanta Georgia; brother, Timothy McFadden of Palmdale, California’ cousins Canon, Elexis and Elijah Hutcherson and Ricky Simmons, all of Cincinnati, Ohio: and host of family and friends.
