MARGARET JACKSON (TERRANCE) was born December 22, 1924 to William and Amanda Terrance in Greenville, SC. As most did back then, Margaret’s mother moved up north to Cincinnati with her children. From that wedlock, four sisters, Mary E. Grievous, Lillie Carlisle, Nellie Gaither and Dollie Zanders and three brothers, Edward Terrance, John Terrance and William Terrance were born. Later in life, four sisters were born of her father, William Terrance, Bernice, Barbra, Sarah and Mattie.
Margaret married her late husband, Houston (Jack) Jackson who preceded her in death in 1964. Three children were born from this union: Ronald Jackson (Stephanie), Vickie Jackson-Grant (Anthony) and Michael Jackson.
Mom’s 100 years and seven months went with a whisper on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. surrounded by her children, Ronnie, Carolyn, Vickie and Michael at U.C. Hospital. While in the hospital, she was visited by granddaughters, great-grands, loving nieces and nephews, Diane, Kat, Bo and Tul, plus many more. Her wonderful grandson, Brandon preceded her in death in 2006.
Mom loved her sports, her family, enjoying her special “The Loaf”. Mom always had her door open where family would gather for the dueling cards at the dining room table. Uncle Bill and Chuck would dual from Friday night til Sunday with mom cooking breakfast. Mom loved her horses and numbers too. If you don’t know, her secret to winning horses was, “You don’t play the odds on the horse! You play the jockey!” She was one of a kind. If she said it, she said it! And she’d give that long “woohoo”. We always had a German Shepherd; never knew life without one, especially “King”.
Mom raised her children, void father, as a widowed veteran and paid off our home on her salary as a home daycare worker for one family for four generations.
She loved and was loved. Most of you were blessed beyond words if you knew Mrs. Jackson.
As mom would say, “Close that Door!” — All the Way!
We’d like to thank Vitas Hospice for their comforting care at 1929 Dale Road for five years and until July 23rd; Chaplain Jim who prayed with mom every Tuesday; and her care granddaughters, Pumpkin and Neffi!
Margaret leaves behind: her children, Ronald Jackson (Stephanie), Carolyn Norman, Vickie Jackson-Grant (Anthony) and Michael Jackson; (preceded in death by daughter, Joyce Alexander); and a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Terrance/Jackson legacy continues. We will remember the Love, Lessons and Laughter Momma until we see each other again!
