Marvin Dale Wilson was born on November 11th,1956 in Las Vegas Nevada to Elijah and Myrtle Wilson and was called home to be with the Lord on November 8th, 2024. He was the fourth of six children Barbara Bivens, William Wilson (D), Karen Wilson, Paula Andrews, and Gary Wilson.
Marvin met his wife and life companion Denise in November 1991 and united in Marriage on April 25th,1998 with 26 years of blissful matrimony. They enjoyed spending time traveling, attending concerts and taking on life's many adventures together!
One of the biggest joys in his life was being a girl dad to his daughter Akira Wilson, step daughter Nia Price and grand daughter Amirah Antoine. There wasn't a thing that he wouldn't do for his girls!! He leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, kindness, and generosity that will live on through his children and grandchildren.
Marvin was raised by a close knit loving family and his love of sports came from his mother Myrtle aka Red. Marvin was her favorite child and they would spend weekends in front of the TV watching sports together. Thats was her right hand man and she would catch a case about Mr. Wilson!!!
Marvin graduated from Woodward High School in 1975. While at Woodward, Marvin became a standout athlete and excelled on the basketball court. He was a 4 year starter that became one of the school's top scorers and affectionately earned the name Marvelous Marv!! Marvin earned a basketball scholarship to Northern Kentucky University to continue the magic on the court with fellow Bulldogs Dennis Bettis and Greg Mills and eventually earned a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work.
He went on to continue to play and coach basketball with the Cincinnati Old Timers League until 2012 when he decided to hang up his gym shoes!! During that time he lead multiple teams to league championships as a player/coach. His impact on the court and within the organization lead to him being selected into the Old Timers Hall of Fame in 2023!!
Marvin worked diligently at Pro Seniors from 1997 - 2022 as a long-term care Ombudsman. He was also an advocate and voice for the senior community and their families. Even after retirement, he continued to work with Pro Seniors to mentor volunteers and interns. It is said he brought a sense of calm, compassion, and wisdom into every room he entered.
He loved helping everyone from the elderly to the young. He always had a kind word to say to everyone he greeted. His smile and hug was infectious. He was know for his heart of Gold, and sound advice, if you wanted it or not.
Marvin loved to dress and had a flair for fashion and his signature hats! Even his socks matched his suits!! His height, smile, and dress made him stand out, in a room full of people.
Known for his hugs, and heart of Gold, and the ability to make everyone he met feel comfortable around him, he will truly be MISSED by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Marvin was a cherished member of Lincoln Heights Missionary Church. He was passionate about serving the Lord and dedicated his life to his faith and Family.
To know him was to LOVE him.
Marvin leaves to cherish his long memory, his wife Denise Wilson, his daughter Akira Wilson, step daughter Nia Price (Rodney), granddaughter Amirah Antoine his siblings Barbara Bivens (Henry), Karen Wilson, Paula Andrews (Paul), Gary Wilson (Evelyn) Along with a host of nieces, nephews cousins, in laws and life long friends.
