Melvin Newman, Jr., known to many as “Binky” was born December 9, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Melvin Newman, Sr., and Garnella P. Newman (nee Fant). He departed this life on June 11, 2026 at his home. He was preceded in death by wife, Angela Newman; two brothers, Quincy Fant, Sr., and Cornell Newman, Sr.; and two sisters, Yvonne Mayes (nee Fant) and Amberley Newman.
Melvin attended Cincinnati Public Schools, worked several jobs to include Tastey Bakery and Cincinnati Public Schools. He retired from Cincinnati Public Schools. He also dedicated his life to Christ.
Being the fourth oldest of 10 children, he was the only one in the family that was musically inclined, having inherited that talent from his father. He loved playing instruments and singing and was a band member in several bands. If you tried to reach him and couldn’t, know that he was playing his instruments and/or writing music!!
A secret that you may not have known, he also loved to draw and was pretty good at it! His past time, other than music/drawing, was fishing, playing the lottery and eating Gummie Bears and Hot Tamales!!
Melvin leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Natasha R. Brown and son, Dwuan R. Delaney; five grandchildren: Jaylah R. Mosley, Elijah M. Mosley, Naarrai I. Jones, Taniya S. Davis and Destiny A. Delaney; five great-grandchildren: Elijah Mosley, Jr., Anyla Mosley, Zyon Smith, Damyla Grant and Mariah Mosley; two brothers, Dayle Newman and Marty (Jan) Newman; four sisters, Kimberley Newman, Kelli (Dorian) Newman, Katrina Newman-McKoy and Pamela Newman; two aunts, Ozella Newman, all of Cincinnati, OH and Barbara Fant (Memphis, TN). He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, along with other relatives and friends.
