Michael McClurkin was born on October 4, 1955, in Anniston, Alabama to the late Virgil McClurkin, Sr. and Flora Mae Armstrong.
Michael graduated from Cobb High School in Anniston, Alabama in 1974. He worked an array of jobs, including working for the State of Alabama before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985.
Michael knew, loved and accepted Christ into his life at an early age. He joined New Mission Missionary Baptist Church in 1985, where he would serve as a member and President of the Usher Board for over 27 years. Michael would also meet and marry his second wife, Diane McClurkin (nee Coley) on July 8, 1985, whom he shared almost 30 years with.
Michael began working for C.J. Krehbiel Printing Co. in 1985 where he forged lifelong friendships. He would then join the ranks at Frisch’s Commissary around 2002 where he would eventually retire from in 2018. Over the years, he also ran his own lawn care service for many years.
Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Gracie Allen; three brothers, William, Virgil and Billy McClurkin; and one sister, Beverly Ann Murray.
He leaves to cherish his memory: four child-ren, Yvatte Newsome (Willie), Brandon Coley (Brittnay), Cierra McClurkin and Michelle Curry; five bonus children, Anthony Smith, Mack Smith (Katy), Valentina Cole (Charlie), Gretchen Smith and Virginia Campbell (James); 10 grandchildren, JuRado Mathews, Fred Tatum, Jr., Kamira Coley, Kindall Coley, Brenna Coley, Baylee Schwartz, Jabari Knight, Bryson Housely, Donovan Pritchett and Reagan Pritchett; special friend, Pam Bellew; and a host of nieces, nephews, bonus grandchildren, great-grandchildren, godchildren, family members and close friends.
