Michael F. Thompson, Sr. Obituary

Mr. Michael Fitzgerald Thompson, Sr., was born on Monday, October 12, 1964, to James Anthony Thompson, Jr., and Ann Stewart Thompson.

In 1984, Michael graduated from Aiken High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, and joined the United States Air Force later that year. He was stationed at Hurlburt Field Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, Florida until being honorably discharged in 1995.

He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the former Tyna Works on May 22, 1995. This union was blessed with four loving and talented children: Michael, Jr., Christyna, Mason and Valerie Thompson.

In 1996, the Thompsons purchased their first home and moved to Cincinnati and eventually settled into their second home in Fairfield Township, Ohio.

Having earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science during his Air Force tenure, Michael worked as an Information Technology (I.T.) professional from 1995-2020.

As a devoted born-again believer in the Lord Jesus, Michael believed in freely giving of himself to others. Michael shared his skills and talents in I.T. to help build and sustain the digital infrastructure of the church where he served faithfully.

Michael was known as a family man. He committed himself to the care of his wife and children. He was a consistent provider, counselor, and nurturer to the members of his household. He was also a loving son to his mother and friend to his two brothers all the days of his life.

Michael is survived by his wife Tyna and four children. He is also survived by his mother Ann Stewart Thompson, brothers Steve and Scott (Dominique) Thompson, as well as his mother-in-law Ernestine Works. Additionally, Michael is survived by a host of relatives, including his brothers and sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; and numerous close, committed friends.

Michael Fitzgerald Thompson, Sr., 55, of Fairfield Township, Ohio, joined our loving Heavenly Father and his earthly father (James Anthony Thompson, Jr.) on Monday, June 29, 2020, at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Michael Fitzgerald Thompson, Sr., our husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend would like to let you know that his work here is done. Mike received a call on Monday, June 29, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Michael’s new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, gardening and reading to his heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious, and one never gains an ounce. Mike left detailed instructions for his wife, children and family to celebrate his mission here, which has now been completed. Low adherence to this instruction will not be tolerated.

Death leaves a heartache that only God can heal;

Love leaves a memory that no one can ever steal.
