Michael Omari Buchanan

Michael Omari Buchanan was born on February 2, 2022 at UC Health in Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed peacefully in his father's arms, surrounded by his mother and grandmother on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at home. Though Michael only lived a short life, succumbing to respiratory disease as a result of Trisomy 18, he was a joy to his family. At only three months, Michael showed lots of personality and his dad affectionally called him “boss baby” because of his facial and eyebrow expressions. He loved being read to, tummy rubs, music and cuddles with his family!

Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, William "Billy" Bonner of Newport, KY.  

Michael is survived by: his parents, Donald III and Chantel Bonner Buchanan; brothers, D’Jore Stevens and Donald “DB” Buchanan IV; sister, Khiarra Henry; maternal grandmother, Joan Stevens Bonner; great-grandmother, Maud Allen; grandfather, Donald Buchanan, Jr. and great-grandmother, Dorothy Combs-Buchanan of Newport News, VA; grand-mother, Sheila McAdoo; aunt, Sheilakai Simmons; and a host of great-aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family of Michael would like to thank UC Health and Cincinnati Children's Hospital’s nurses, doctors and NICU team for their exceptional care to Michael during his time there. 

Michael Omari was named after the angel Michael in the Bible and like his name meaning, he was a “gift from God” and showed us that “God is the highest!”
