Milton Bradley Lee was born July 29, 1947 to the late Willie and Justine Lee in Chicago, Illinois. Milton came from a large family with plenty of love, good times and not to mention the occasional sibling challenge that naturally came with growing up alongside 8 siblings (Josephine, Alberta, George, Justine, Tim, Gayland, Mario, Anthony). Milton graduated from Dunbar High School, though it was always mentioned he spent a lot of his time hanging out with one of his favorite cousins Tommie (TC) at Dusable High School. Milton was drafted in the Army after graduation and would tell stories of how he was excited to finally have a bed to himself and none of his siblings' feet in face as he slept. While in the Army, Milton served in the Vietnam War and received several medals including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Upon honorable discharge from the military, Milton returned to Chicago where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Johnson. Milton married Dorothy on September 21, 1972 and to that union, two children were born, Colen and Janelle. Milton proudly worked for the Chicago Transit Authority for 25 years, serving in various roles including working as a bus driver and at the CTA Railyard.
Milton and Dorothy moved to Middletown, OH in 2010 to be surrounded by their loving daughter and grandkids. Milton was an enthusiast for life and had a passion for many interests including fishing, building computers, photography, and traveling with his lovely family.
While living in Chicago he attended Greater Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church. He also worked in a church outreach program with the Community and Economic Development Association of Cook County. Once moving to Middletown, Milton along with his wife joined New Era Baptist church and was a member until the very end. Milton was a devoted Christian with a strong faith in God who loved going to Sunday services and would often be seen nodding his head and rocking to the music from the Mass Choir. Milton also served in the Middletown community, often volunteering at the food pantry, Willing Workers, and Rosa Parks Elementary School.
Milton exemplified what it meant to be a devoted husband, loving father, and true family man. He was a steady and calming presence, a man of character, resilience, and stern discipline. He carried with him a gentle spirit that brought comfort and peace to those around him. His love for his family was evident in all that he did, and his kindness, wisdom, and quiet strength will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Lee and his siblings Josephine, George, Justine, Gayland, and Anthony.
Milton leaves to mourn and cherish his memory two children, Colen Lee and Janelle Wallace (Manon), one grandson, Jamon Wallace, and one granddaughter, Jada Wallace, one special niece/daughter, Nina Watkins (Hillel), and had a special, loving relationship with his entire family including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Milton’s love and care extended far beyond his immediate family. He was a father figure to many, offering guidance, encouragement, wisdom, and a steady presence whenever it was needed. He was deeply devoted to his family and could always be counted on to show up, lend a helping hand, and support those he loved. His generosity of spirit and unwavering commitment to family will forever be remembered and cherished.
