Montez M.K. Peppers

His Life Reflections - Montez Micah Keshawn Peppers was born on February 9, 2002, to Monica Henderson and Michael Peppers Sr. He was raised by his mother and stepdad, Michael Green.

Montez attended Woodward Career Technical High School, where he excelled in his passion for football; a sport he discovered and loved at an early age.  He played little league alongside his cousin Dawson while being coached by his big cousin Diondre. Later, playing for the Woodward Bulldogs, he was coached by Coach Jabreel, who became a mentor. Long after high school, they remained close, even attending a Cincinnati Reds game together—where Montez caught a foul ball. He was a talented athlete who gave his all on the field. Football was more than a sport to Montez—it was a part of who he was, a place where his determination, strength, and heart truly shined.

Beyond athletics, Montez was known for life’s simple joys. He cherished spending time playing games online with his family and friends, always laughing and talking his playful talk. He took great pride in his appearance, making sure to keep a fresh haircut and trimmed beard, while learning to “embrace that big ole forehead.” He developed a passion for painting under the guidance of Mr. John, an older painter who gave him more than just an opportunity, he gave him a chance to grow. He often spoke of Montez’s hard work, respectfulness, and the pride he took in doing things the right way.

At his core, Montez was a protector and a deeply loving soul. He shared an unbreakable bond with his mother and siblings, always showing up with love, loyalty, and care. He never played when it came to them. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized at Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church on May 18, 2025, where he also completed New Member Class and left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

On November 17, 2025, Montez welcomed his first and only child, Kairo O’Shun Peppers. He was a young father still learning the rhythm of fatherhood, carrying both pride and uncertainty in the same breath. Building love in quiet moments that meant everything. His journey was cut too soon, leaving behind a four-month-old who will one day hear stories of a father who was already deeply rooted in love and hope for his child’s future.

Montez departed this life on April 2, 2026. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Jamal Henderson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his son; his mom and dad; stepdad; his sisters, Jada, Keshae, and La’Kiya; his brother, Mike; bonus brother, Sidney; God-brother, Kevin; God-mom, Yolanda; grandmother, Debbie; great-grandmother, Juanita; nephews, Reno, Dreamir, Maurice; his only niece, Lani’Love; his special friend, Kierra; favorite aunts, Lashawn, Cynthia and Pamela; uncles, Edward III (Boo), Uncle Don, Uncle Mikey and Uncle Aaron along with a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Those who knew him remember a young father who was trying, learning, and loving in real-time leaving behind not only memories, but a legacy of effort, warmth and quiet devotion that will outlive his years.
