Mother Nora Turner Obituary

Nora Lee Hisle Turner’s journey began on June 2, 1921, the third child born to the union of Phelps and Carrie Fox Hisle in Richmond, Kentucky. Nora Lee Hisle Turner passed away peacefully on July 26, 2021, at the wonderful age of 100 years with the love of her family surrounding her. Mother Turner would want everyone to know that she was more than prepared and eager to meet her Lord and Savior. She had run her race and was prepared to be offered up.

After growing up in the Kentucky bluegrass area the family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Mother Turner received her primary and secondary education from the Cincinnati public school system and continued her high school years at Withrow High School excelling in track and field being the recipient of many awards.

Mother Turner believed in family and the sanctity of marriage. In October 1940 she vowed her devotion in holy matrimony to Edmond Turner. To this loving union were born three sons, William, Elbron, Harry, and daughters Patricia, Rosezella “Rosie”, Jeanette, and Regina. As devoted parents Edmond and Nora instilled in their children the importance of family, integrity, and accountability.

Mother Turner was baptized in Jesus’ name and received the Holy Ghost more than 75 years ago. Her spiritual knowledge under the following leaderships, her husband Elder Edmond Turner, the late Bishop Elzie Young, the late Bishop Johnnie Johnson, and her pastor Bishop James Chapman. These great men of God afforded her the importance of Christian attributes. She faithfully served the Kingdom of God and her husband in ministry in various capacities. Mother Turner always took the time to share the Gospel with others. Her paramount love for God and the example she lived was instilled in her children and family members so that they would not have any excuse. She unapologetically gave the Lord her best praise.

Mother Turner was a woman of many passions including reading, sewing, gardening, and re- nowned for her cooking and baking skills. Everyone that graced the Turner home always knew they would have plenty of homemade delicious food to eat and good conversation. Time spent at granny’s house was very special for her grandchildren, and parents were discouraged from hang- ing out too long so she could spend time alone with them.

Loved ones that cleared the path as she rejoins them are her parents, Phelps and Carrie Hisle; beloved husband, Edmond; loving sons, William and Harry; sisters Anna Mae Brown, Laura Belle Matthews, and brother John Hisle.

Loved ones that will miss her until they meet again are her daughters Patricia Hillard; Rosezella “Rosie” (James) Essex; Mary Jeannette Turner; Regina Simmons; Son, Elbron (Diane); Pauletta Turner, Daughter-in-love; grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and a host of extended families and friends.

Mother Turner was a devout woman of God and a wonderful woman that was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. She was an amazing wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and granny like no other could be. We love you dearly. And so, the story goes on until we see our beloved Nora Lee Hisle Turner again.
