Myron Dexter Criswell “Big Daddy” was born August 1, 1955 to the union of Nellie Criswell and Lucas Waldrop in Cincinnati, Ohio. Myron was the second to the youngest of 10. He left behind his two brothers, Leslie P. Criswell, Sr. (Deb) and Ronald P. Parham, Sr.
Big Daddy laid to rest at the Christ Hospital on January 2, 2025. He attended Withrow High School. After high school on May 13, 1977 Big Daddy married his childhood sweetheart Carolyn Faye. Together they created three legacies: Antonio D. Criswell, Sr., Tiffany V. Samuels (Lawrence) and Celeste L. Lackey (Lawrence). Myron was “Big Daddy”, “Pops” and “Granddaddy” to DeMarcus, Chris, Christina, Chrisalynn, Devon, Chrishauna, DeAirius, Jordan, Lamaiya, Lariaya, Christian, Antonio Jr. and Tyreece; “Great-Grandad” to Aubree, Christopher Jr., Carter and Kasaun; and finally, Past Master Criswell (Pride of Valley #95).
Big Daddy liked to “Nickel and Dime” in different things, but his occupation in environmental services is what fed the family. He retired from Summitt Country Day School with over 20 years of service.
Big Daddy loved all types of music, gospel being the most; lol, if he wasn’t at church on Sunday, he had service in his living room. where he was the lead organist. When Big Daddy was relaxing, his favorite pastime was watching court shows, Tyler Perry plays, Shark Tank and any movies that included Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and James Brown. Big Daddy also loved spending long weekends at the cabin, being with family and going on vacation with wife, son-in-law, daughter and grand-daughter.
Considering all of this, Big Daddy would want you to celebrate his life because he always said “He feel good, like James Brown” and also would have told you that he wasn’t ready to go and if you had any extra time to give.
