Nakia Frye-Thomas departed this life leaving behind a legacy of love, generosity, and devotion to family and community. Known for her radiant smile, big heart, and vibrant personality, Nakia had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and loved.
Nakia was born to Marion T. Frye and the late Sam Jackson Sr. At an early age, she was baptized at Greater Fellowship, where her faith journey began. She attended Western Hills High School and graduated with the Class of 1996.
Nakia was a proud and devoted mother to her children Bruce McCrary Jr., Nykel McCrary, NyAsia McCrary and step-son, Jaylen Thomas who were the center of her world. She was married to Tomma Thomas, and during that time they fostered Madisyn Burgin, whom Nakia loved and cared for as her own.
Nakia’s passion in life was caring for others. She dedicated more than twenty-five years to childcare, becoming a trusted caregiver, mentor, and advisor to many children and families. As the founder of Kia Kid’s LLC, Nakia created a nurturing environment where countless young people saw her as more than a provider, they considered her a guiding presence and a second mother. Nakia also worked with Delta Airlines, which allowed her to enjoy one of her favorite passions: traveling and exploring the world.
Nakia possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed exploring many creative ventures. Over the years she pursued opportunities in barber college, bartending, cake making, sewing and acting. Nakia (Linda) was featured in a yet to be published movie entilted "Umbilicus" produced in 2022. She also founded a women’s alliance known as Seasoned Sassy Beauties (SSB), a group that celebrated friendship, sisterhood, empowerment, and living life with confidence and grace.
She loved bringing people together. Nakia enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home, making sure everyone felt comfortable, welcomed, and well fed. She also loved decorating and had a passion for high fashion, expressing herself through stylish hair, clothing, beautiful shoes, purses, lashes, and nails.
Nakia will always be remembered for her warm personality, infectious humor, and nurturing spirit. If you knew Nakia, you knew that anything she had, she was willing to share. Her kindness, generosity, and love for people made her truly one of a kind.
Nakia loved shopping and often delighted in being fashionably late to gatherings with friends and family. She will be cherished for her big heart, and her remarkable ability to light up any room with her amazing personality and sense of humor.
Nakia is survived by her loving grandmother Mary Willis, her very special uncle Fred "Jerry" (Catherine) Frye Sr. (Lexington, Ky), and her siblings Erica Frye, Willie (Shana) Frye, Jimmaei Ragland, Norma (Eric) Jackson-Hill, Catherine (Carlton) Jackson-Williams, Darryle (Paulette) Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Sam Ali Muhammed Jr., Sandra Jackson, Andrew Jackson and Sarah'Anne McIntosh (Ft.
