Napoleon “Nate” McGinnis was born to the union of William and Cora McGinnis on December 24, 1930 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was the third out of seven children born to this union. He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Nate was married to Lula McGinnis on April 1, 1951 by Father Joseph Stier of St. Francis Parrish. They moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1953.
He worked for many years with General Motors as a security guard. Then, he went on to drive trucks with Superior Carrier, where he became an owner operator of multiple trucks.
Nate loved to travel, especially back to his home[1]town where he would visit at least a few times a year. He loved to watch sports, western shows and had a favorite spot in the city where he enjoyed watching the trains go by. He was a family man who loved his wife dearly, very dependable, reliable and quick to speak his mind.
Nate was preceded in death by: father, William McGinnis; mother, Cora McGinnis; son, Napoleon McGinnis, Jr.; and wife, Lula McGinnis.
He leaves to cherish his memory: sister, Maxine McGinnis; sons, Robert McGinnis; grandchildren, Tremayne Proffitt, Patrice (Derrick) Logan, Anthony (Evelyn) Williams, Mahogany Morgan, Cameron (Ashley) McGinnis, Michael (Adriana) McGinnis, Natasha Armstead, Raqim Young and Hakeem Williams; great-grandchildren, Angela Whitterson, Nionna Byrd, Noah Byrd, Nyla Byrd, Anthony Williams, Jr., Isaac Avery McGinnis, Budhi Paxton, Gabriella Ingram and Erimas Whitterson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
