Nathan Raymond Reid Obituary

Deacon Nathan Raymond Reid Sr. also known to many as “Sonny” was born on December 16th, 1933 in Norristown, PA to the union of the late Emma Mae and Ollie Reid. He pursued his formal education in the Public Schools of Cincinnati, OH. He departed this life on March 15th, 2024.

Deacon Nathan Reid enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country proudly in the Korean War and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Deacon Nathan Reid was united in holy matrimony to Leola C. Reid on July 17, 1972.

He proudly worked for the United States Government Postal Service for over 30 years. Deacon Nathan Reid was baptized and filled with the holy ghost in 1971 at Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church under the late Bishop Elzie W. Young, where he was a member for over 50 years and served on the Deacon Board.

He had a passion for reading, studying history, and watching black and white cowboy movies. He was also a fashion connoisseur who took pride and joy in the suits, ties, and shoes he wore to church. Point blank, Deacon Reid knew he was sharp all the time! (Lol). Additionally, Deacon Reid had a great sense of humor and loved to joke with everyone; however, he was very loving and compassionate to all.

Most importantly, Deacon Nathan Reid spent a vast amount of time studying the bible to strengthen his number one relationship which was with God.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ollie and Emma Reid and his siblings Volie Reid,  Valeria Reid, Dorothy Hill, Barbara Johnson, Marvin Reid, and Lenora Salter.

Deacon Nathan Reid leaves to cherish his memories to his loving wife, Leola Reid, siblings Shirley Reid, Annette Weems, Carolyn McNear, Serrecia Ervin, and William Reid and his 6 children Sheena Lundy, Terrence (Brigette) Reid, Cassaundra (Randy) Carter, Denena Reid, Nathan (Chevonne) Reid, Tiffany Reid. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren, and a host of great and great-great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews, relatives, friends, and church family.
