With a heavy heart, the family announces the homegoing of Obie Lee McKee Jr. He passed away on December 12, 2025 to be with the Lord.
Obie was born February 11, 1951 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Obie L. McKee Sr and Louise (Jones) McKee who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his two grandchildren Jordan and Cierra. Obie confessed Christ at an early age at Salem Tabernacle Church. He attended public schools and graduated from Hughes High School in 1969 with honors, and he was a trumpet player in the marching band. Obie was hired by GE right out of high school and worked there until he was injured.
Obie was a faithful and dedicated father to to five children: Beverly McKee, Wendell Allen, Lorenzo (his wife Kristi) Hix, Shaun (his wife Bridget) Hix, and Jerrica Gibson. Obie was also a devoted brother to six siblings: A. Teresa Hamner, Sameeh Muhammad, Curtis (his wife Chris) McKee, Gerald McKee, Kenneth McKee, and Emmett Brown. He was the grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Chaniqua, Desmond, Ronnie Jr., Gabriel, Darlene, Darius, Amaya, Kiante, Uriah, Shaun Jr., Isaiah, and Dah'von. Obie leaves to cherish his memories of a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand, and cousins.
With the many challenges that life brings, Obie was able to press his way forward. We loved and will miss you. He fpught a good fight. He finished race. And he kept the faith.
