Pastor Joyce A. Brewster Obituary
Pastor Joyce Ann Brewster was born on November 9, 1950 in Anderson, South Carolina to the union of Major and Louise Thomas. She was the third child of nine.
Joyce attended Lincoln Heights Elementary School, graduating from Hughes High School in 1968. Later in life, she furthered her college education in Nursing and obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Education. She worked many years at Maple Knoll, changing careers to work with at risk youth at the Allen House, and finally retired from Cincinnati Public Schools. Joyce was married to Daniel L. Brewster, Sr. on November 14, 1969 and to this union was born four children.
In the early 70’s, while attending The Holy House of the Living God, Pastor Brewster received the Holy Ghost and was called into ministry in 1974 where she worked faithfully teaching the word of God. She pastored her own church, Everlasting Church of God for 14 years, until her health began to fail. She also was a member of the Ambassadors of Christ. She later became a member of Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple under the leadership of Bishop Paul A. Bowers and currently Bishop LaVelton Daniel.
Pastor Joyce Ann Brewster was called home on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father, Major Thomas.She leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Louise Thomas; her husband, Daniel L. Brewster, Sr.; four children, Daniel Jr., Yolonda, Yolnaya and Yakecia Brewster; five grandchildren, Yahkim (Antonio) Griggs, Calah, Anaiah and Leyah Custard and Kamya Jenkins; three great-grandchildren, Alizah Wright, Chai Custard and Baeleigh Griggs; brothers, Charles Williford, Major (Marion), William (Patrica), Michael (Yvonne), Ronald (Jessie), Danny (Tammie) Thomas and Stanley Hunter; sisters, Jennie V. Maye, Karla and Helen Thomas; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
