Patricia A. Boling Obituary

Patricia Ann Boling was born on August 29, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the youngest of four children born to the late Oakley Porter, Sr. and Mary Dell Porter (Montgomery). She loved God and departed this life on April 17, 2022, to be with our Lord. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She not only loved everybody, but she also went out of her way to help anyone in need. All throughout her life, she volunteered her time, her treasure and her many talents.

Pat committed her life to Christ at an early age and was a member with her parents at the Rockdale Baptist Church. She grew up in Lincoln Heights and graduated from Woodward High School in 1972. Patricia tackled life’s challenges with strength, confidence, creativity and tenacity; managing her responsibilities as a wife, a mom to four children and a career-woman with grace and style. Her career spanned over four decades, where she worked in corporate America at Formica as an assistant buyer, a stay-at-home-mom, bank teller at Franklin Savings & Loan, legal secretary at several prominent law firms in the city with the last being the Law Offices of William Strubbe, a business owner of not just one, but two businesses, and even a certified tax preparer for H&R Block.

A loving and devoted mother and wife, Pat was dedicated to her family. She had strong family values, making sure dinner was on the table every night and the kids ate as a family. She taught them the power of family and the importance of supporting and standing up for one another. Pat always encouraged the building of a relationship with God and passed on her belief in education and a strong work ethic as the keys to success in this world. Everyone who knew Pat, knew how much she loved family gatherings, eating good food, music of all kinds and being the life of the party. When you remember Pat, remember her for the good times, the laughter and the unconditional love she freely shared. Remember her for the times she listened and the advice she gave — whether you asked for it or not. Remember her for the 17 years she volunteered her time as a Girl Scouts leader, caring for numerous young girls and exposing them to the world, through trips in the country and out, spelunking, camping and baking cakes on an open fire. Remember her for her quick wit, infectious laugh[1]ter and her love of music — from singing in a band with her brothers, to singing in the church choir at The Vineyard Community Church where she was a member for more than 20 years, to Friday night karaoke at The Bombay Bicycle Club.

Pat leaves to cherish in her memory: her husband, Donald K. Boling; four children, Nikki Means, Alexandra Ball, Lisa Piening and Thomas Piening, Jr.; two stepchildren, Kent Boling and Chelsey Boling; three grandchildren, Isaiah Piening, Nathan Ball and MaKenzie Piening; two brothers, John Clarence (Jewell) Johnson and Gregory (Lynn) Porter; a sister-in-law, Mary Porter, whose husband and Pat’s brother (Oakley Porter, Jr.) preceded her in passing; her great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a host of cousins, other family members and dear friends.
