In the beginning God created me special to give to my mother, LaLisa. She had told me that she wanted someone to love and to spoil. I was born on March 26, 1986 to the late Anthony D. Thomas and LaLisa J. Fasanella. I was a special needs child and my mom had no idea that God loved her so much and he trusted her with one of his precious lambs. My mom was a brave warrior who had so much love and compassion in her heart to not give up on me.
Doctors had told my mom that I would not live past five years old when I was 11 years old, but my mom had faith in her God to help and guide her through my difficult times and my very sick episodes. My mom gave me unconditional love. She would kiss me and hug and tell me often, “I love you.” We would get through this with God’s help and guidance.
I attended many schools. First school in Florida, then we went back to Cincinnati, Ohio and went to Washington Park, a school in Butler County, then Roselawn/Condon. My name is Portia Nikla Antoinette Thomas. I was my mom’s star and the love of her life. My mom took me with her and if I couldn't go, then she wouldn’t go.
My mom believed in me that I was some-body. She would take me shopping, out to eat and to the movies. Later, she found out
that I was a shopaholic. During Christmas time, she would take me to the malls, so I could do my Christmas shopping and shop online too.
My favorite restaurants were Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Frisch’s and Burger King. My favorite colors were purple and yellow. I loved school when I was able to attend. When I couldn’t attend, I had a tutor that came to my house. Her name was Mrs. Houston and she helped me graduate. I loved visiting with my family when they came over. I loved my room and my TV. Thanks to my mom she made my room special for me. My mom gave me the best life of a person that was born with health problems. On December the 8th God said, “JOB WELL DONE LALISA, I have my little lamb now. I LOVE YOU PORTIA.”
Portia is presiding in glory with her grandparents, Jasper Dora; one uncle, Jeffery and one aunt, Theresa; and one grandma, Scarlett.
Portia leaves to cherish her life: dear mom, LaLisa; three aunts, Theresa Jennings and Melissa Jennings; cousins, Tiffany Ijoni (King David Camara, Binta Camara and Mya ljoni), Grace Chambers (Marvin Floyd, Jr.), Timothy and Chris Chambers, and Jamela Oba; one uncle, Danta Goins and wife, Sonya and family, Brandon and his family (cousin); cousins, Jeremy and Jeffery Jr.; and a host of great aunts and uncles and cousins.
