It is hard to put into words exactly who Ron Lloyd was in totality, because he was so many amazing things to so many people. To the folks he served for over 30 years at the Hamilton County Department of Jobs & Family Services, he was a compassionate public servant and trusted colleague. To the community at large, he was a faithful champion who participated in numerous events and enrichment programs such as the Rights of Passage Group, MLK Celebrations, Juneteenth, and many more. To the many bands that he was a part of or led, most recently as leader of Jazz Renaissance, he was a passionate musician who gave his all to his bandmates and audiences alike.
Ron hosted a regular men’s group to facilitate healing conversations that men may not otherwise have access to, and he was a faithful Elder and leader at the Bible Deliverance Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. The aforementioned doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of all he was, but most notably, to his family he was “Paw-Paw,” Dad, and beloved husband. It is often said that it is not your beginning or even your end date that matters as much as the dash that fills the space between. For Ron, that dash was a remarkable one, as he tirelessly gave of himself and deeply loved his family, neighbors, audiences, friends and even strangers. Ron was someone you could safely rely on, and he will be fiercely missed by all who knew him. If you were ever touched by his amazing life and legacy, we hope that it will inspire you to make the space between your beginning and ending count, and leave a lasting, unforgettable impression like Ron did.
