Roosevelt Delray Brown “Ray” was born on August 21, 1967 in Daytona, Florida to Mae F. Smith and the late Roosevelt Brown. He returned to the earth April 25, 2022.
Ray moved to Miami, Florida at a young age. He attended Parkway Middle School and Miami Norland Senior High. Ray, being an honorable man, then joined the military. Life’s journey brought him to Middletown in 2010.
Ray loved sports. He was an official Steelers fan. He enjoyed fishing, music and being with family. Knowing Ray was knowing his true passion was BBQing and cooking. Ray could smoke a rib right off the bone! His loud and strong voice could not go unnoticed. Ray was wise and worked hard to provide. He was so proud of his last business, B&B Southern Smoke he launched with Ashanti.
Ray loved his family. He goes to join his father, Roosevelt Brown and sister, Bonita Brown. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving mother, Mae F. Smith; soulmate and forever partner, Ashanti Barefield; his beautiful daughters, Ariel McKissick, Antoinette Woodberry and Shania Purifoy; his handsome sons, Deven Rashaud Brown and Craig Fitzpatrick “TJ”; sisters, Alishia “Gail” Brown and Tawana (Jesse) Houston; brother, Carl (Joya) Smith, Jr.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, close family and friends. He had a special place in his heart for his Auntie Shirley “Shirt” Mulkey and cousins, Taron and Tramell Terry.
