Roosevelt Patterson, Jr. was born on February 8, 1935 in Lexington, Kentucky and began his eternal rest on September 11, 2019. Roosevelt was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah T. Patterson; his mother, Myrtle Davison Patterson McGoogin Fortune; his father, Roosevelt Patterson, Sr.; his brothers, Arnett Patterson, William Patterson, James Miquelo McGoogin, Robert Patterson and Larry McGoogin; and his sisters, Mary Frances Patterson Johnston, Ruby Patterson Hawkins, Nora Jean Patterson Dent, Myrtle Patterson Timmons and Eve McGoogin Snell-Katibi.
He served proudly in the United States Army, from 1952 to 1958, completing a tour of duty in the Korean War. He received the Good Con-duct Medal, Korean Service Medal and Combat Infantryman Badge. He also earned the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Badge with Carbine Bar.
Roosevelt lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for 62 years. He graduated from Taft High School and graduated from The University of Cincinnati, earning his Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences Degree. He also graduated from Ohio Mechanical Institution.
He has worked as a postman for the United States Post Office. He drove 18-wheel trucks for a Trucking Company. He was employed by G.E. (General Electric) and Procter & Gamble.
Roosevelt married his wife of 62 years, Sarah Patterson in Cincinnati, Ohio. He always supported and cared for his wife during a lengthy illness, until God’s angels guided Sarah to her heavenly home. He was a very kind person who would help anyone he could. He had a caring, loving heart. Roosevelt always had a smile on his face. We love and miss him dearly.
He is survived by his brothers, Edward Patterson and Oscar Patterson; his sister, Delores Emery; special nephews, Johnnie Simpson, Sr. and Derrick Davidson; special niece, Vickie Thomas; sister-in-law, Ronney McGoogin; and a host of relatives and friends.
