Sally Roberson was born in Register, Georgia, on November 9, 1947, to the late Pastor Isaac Roberson Sr. and Eloise Roberson. She was the second of nine children born to this union. At an early age, her family relocated from Georgia to Cincinnati, Ohio. Sally B. Roberson departed this life on April 25, 2026.
Sally graduated from Hughes High School in 1966. She took on many roles throughout her life, working tirelessly to ensure her family was cared for. Sally worked for Horan Data Services, U.S. Bank, the IRS, Billboard Music Company, and American Laundry and Machinery, just to name a few. Many co-workers valued and appreciated her work ethic, benevolence, and diligence. Everywhere Sally worked, she never met a stranger.
Sally deeply loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Derrick Sanders Sr. and Nikol Lanier. Sally enjoyed conversing with people, cooking, talking on the phone, calling people first on their birthdays, doing word search puzzles, getting her hair and nails done, attending church, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Sally accepted Christ at an early age and remained a devoted and faithful member of Deliverance Temple Church, founded by her father, Pastor Isaac Roberson Sr., from 1965 until her passing. Before her passing, she was the eldest member of Deliverance Temple Church.
Affectionately known as “Aunt Sally” and “Maw Maw” to many, Sally gave selflessly, never expecting anything in return. Her smile could light up any room. In her later years, she became an after-school caregiver, a dependable chauffeur long before Uber services existed, and a nurturing presence to many.
Sally was preceded in death by her loving parents; two sisters, Pat Mineer and Linda Lowry; and three brothers, Isaac Roberson Jr., Horace Roberson, and Fred Roberson Sr.
Sally leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Derrick Sanders Sr. (Marlene) and Nikol Lanier (Milan); three grandsons, Milan, Derrick Jr. (Dyriah), and Brandon; one granddaughter, Paige; and one great-granddaughter, Da’Hari. She is also survived by her dear sister, Mary Jane Coleman; two dear brothers, Darnell Roberson and Dennis Roberson; three honorary sons, Kevin McKenzie, Jauton Williams, and Raymond Greene; sisters-in-laws Sandra Roberson, Felicia Roberson, and Letta Roberson; many nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of close friends.
Sally Roberson will be remembered for her infectious smile, compassion for others, perseverance, steadfastness, faithfulness, and unwavering generosity. Her living was not in vain.
