Stanley L. Nixson Obituary

Stanley L. Nixson, a devoted husband, father, son, and brother, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2024. Born on July 21, 1983, he was educated through Cincinnati Public Schools and built a life defined by hard work, compassion, and service to others.

Stanley’s dedication to enriching the lives of others was evident throughout his 29-year career in health care. Serving as a State Tested Nurse Aide and Activities Director, he worked tirelessly to improve the well-being of those in his care. His tenure included 17 years at Wood Edge Pointe, 9 years at Scarlet Oaks Community, and 3 years at Burlington House, where he earned the admiration of colleagues, residents, and families alike.

His life of servanthood reflected in both his personal and professional relationships, and his compassion for others was one of his most defining characteristics. Stanley was also humorous, boisterous, and intentional, bringing joy and purpose to every interaction.

Stanley’s remarkable contributions to his community were celebrated on August 17, 2016, when he was awarded the keys to the City of Cincinnati by the then Mayor, John Cranley. In his honor, August 17th was declared Stanley Nixson Day in the city of Cincinnati. This is a testament to his profound impact on the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angela Summers, and their cherished son, Jamal Rahsid. Stanley also leaves behind his beloved mother, Karvinii Nixson-Ison and stepfather, Jeffery “Jeb” Ison, who he affectionately called “Pops.” He was a devoted brother to Curtis (Cierra Minniefield) Nixson, Shannon D. Nixson, Jeffery Ison, Jr., and Joshua Ison.

Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Cottrell. His grandparents, Robert and Beatrice Cottrell and Mary Francis Stacks. His memory will live on through a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; who will forever treasure his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.

Stanley lived a life of purpose and compassion, leaving a legacy of service and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
