Teres’a Lolita Stephens Obituary

Teres’a Lolita Stephens was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on July 14, 1962 to the parents of Johnnie Mae (Porter) and the late Robert Dixon. She transitioned on December 31, 2020.

On June 24, 1989, she married the love of her life, Mark A. Stephens and they shared a wonderful 31 years together.

Teres’a was preceded in death by her Brother, John Dixon. In addition to her beloved Husband, Mark, she leaves to cherish her memories: her Mother, Johnnie Mae Cunningham; Father, Willie Cunningham; Daughter, Chaquita Pitts; Brothers, Garland and Lauren Dixon and Paul Cunningham; Sisters, Lynetta and Elvesta Cunningham; Grandchildren, Quimiyah Jackson-Benton, Dontavious Reese, Jr. and Ariah Pitts; Lifelong Friends, and Sisters, Tina Godfrey, Teresa Derden; and also a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Teres’a graduated from Western Hills High School in 1980. She immediately began her career with Porter & Porter Enterprises, Inc., a Cincinnati based company, with a national cliental. As an apprentice, she quickly became a valued member of the team. She was focused, talented, and displayed strong leadership skills. She was tenacious and dedicated, with a sincere quest for knowledge. These gifts, a kindling within her heart would burn bright during her entire life as a Devout Servant of the Lord!

Teres’a attended the Cincinnati Technical College and received an A.S. degree in Surgical Technology. She joined the University of Cincinnati Hospital and worked with an Advanced Surgical Group, using the state-of-the art technology and clinical procedures, to perfect the gastric bypass procedure. For her contribution, she received the “Technician of the Year Award.” Later, she joined the Christ Hospital staff, concluding her medical career.

Teres’a was baptized at the New Mission Missionary Baptist Church, May 1, 1983. She sang in the Mass Choir and served in the role of Vice President and Director of Bible School. Teres’a was a “Teacher of Teachers” and she became the first Lady of Miami Baptist Church in Milford, Ohio. As a Licensed Minister, she continued her studies at the Temple Bible Seminary in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Inspired by God, Teres’a wrote, produced and directed two plays, the most popular, “I Have So Much to Give” performed at Xavier University. She also authored and published a children’s book, “Believe in ABC’s and Ice Cream Dreams.” She hosted a radio broadcast, “Sound Chat with Misty” on WAIF 88.3 FM. Teres’a loved to travel with her Husband, Mark. Their favorite destination was the Caribbean Islands.

Let it be known, that Teres’a lived a life poured out for the Lord. She was always at her Master’s Table, partaking of her daily bread. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, a precious daughter, a loyal and trustworthy friend. She had a heart for God and a heart for His people.
