Terrance Yul Ray was born on July 21, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio, to James Arthur Ray and Nellie Beatrice Ray. As a boy, Terrance found joy helping his grandfather with household tasks, sparking a lifelong passion for craftsmanship. Growing up with his siblings, he cherished a childhood filled with laughter and creativity, spending hours building go-karts and honing his talents. Terrance attended Lincoln Heights Elementary School, where he developed a love for reading and often shared stories with his younger siblings, fostering their imaginations and leaving a lasting impression.
Terrance discovered his musical talents as a teenager, forming the New Funk band with his brother Jamie Ray and friends. Their performances created cherished memories, blending harmony and passion. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1979, completing the Scarlet Oaks Vocational Program in Culinary Services, further expanding his many talents.
After high school, Terrance served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Nimitz, traveling the globe with pride and discipline. Returning home, he dedicated 28 years to the University of Cincinnati, leaving a lasting impact through his hard work and kindness. A passionate horseshoe player, Terrance competed enthusiastically, sharing his love for the game with many.
Though he had no children of his own, Terrance was a father figure to countless nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his siblings, extended family, and friends, whose lives he touched with his generosity and love. Terrance’s legacy is one of joy, service, and inspiration.
