Verdell Walker was born in Bay Minette, Alabama, on October 27, 1937 to Bernice Carroll and David Donald.
She was lovingly raised by our beloved Aunt Clydie Mae Williams in Cincinnati, Ohio. Verdell attended Woodward High School and graduated from Jewish Hospital College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was employed by Jewish Hospital and served as a Psychiatric Nurse for many years which includes a tenure at Drake Hospital. Verdell retired from nursing and enjoyed weekly visits to the Forest Park Senior Center where she enjoyed playing Scramble, Bid Whist, Line Dancing and multiple activities with new-found friends.
Verdell also married and to this union were born a daughter and a son, Tamara Walker and Gary Walker.
Verdell departed this life at Brookwood Retirement Center where she continued her enjoyment of various activities with other residents.
Verdell was preceded in death by her loving brother and sister, James Gaines and Jacqueline Gaines.
Verdell leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Tamara and Gary (Joyce A.) Walker; brothers, Melvin (Deborah E.) Gaines, Clyde (Myra L.) Gaines and Roscoe F. (Gabrielle B.) Carroll; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
