The Angel of the Lord descended from Heaven, softly called Yolanda’s name and she departed this life Sunday Afternoon on April 17th, 2022 after a long illness. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. Yolanda was born in Dayton, Ohio to Willie C. & Kathleen Young McCoy and had 3 sisters, Hailita Francoy Hill-Weeks, Lydia McCoy and Darlene McCoy-Powell who all preceded her in death.
Yolanda loved cooking, knitting and going shopping. She also enjoyed an occasional trip to the Casino and was an excellent drawer. She had several nicknames; Landa, Dulanda & Yo. Yolanda was loving and caring and always looked out for others. She grew up in the church and never forgot her roots. She loved working in the garden planting flower and enjoyed being around her children and grandchildren (especially during the holidays). Her favorite color was yellow. She had a smile that lit up a room and she never met a stranger. Yolanda retired from Kroger in Middletown where she met her best friend, Mattie Helton.
Yolanda leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Willie McCoy of Dayton, Ohio. Three daughters Shaomesha McCoy-Shackleford of Cincinnati, Ohio, Denise (Alisha) McCoy-Bledsoe of Louisville, Kentucky and Terri McCoy-Richardson (Christopher) of Middletown, Ohio; Nine grandchildren, Tykeeria Gray, Christopher Richardson Jr., Lakierra McCoy, Chrishara Richardson, Justin Jones, Kendrea Johnson, Shandrea Johnson, Daviera Richardson and Terrecc Richardson; and a host of great grandchildren.
